AI Automation: Where Small Teams Should Actually Start

Most small teams don’t need an AI strategy. They need one repetitive task to stop eating someone’s afternoon every week.

Start with work that is frequent, rule-based, and easy to verify: routing enquiries, drafting first-pass replies, summarizing long threads, or keeping records in sync between tools.

The rule of thumb: automate the task, not the judgment. Let the system do the repetitive part and keep a human in the loop wherever a wrong answer would be expensive.

Measure before and after in hours, not vibes. If the automation doesn’t give time back within a month, it’s the wrong first project — move on and pick another.
